Digital health platform Tata 1mg began drone delivery in Dehradun to expedite the collection and distribution of diagnostic samples and medicines in the city, eliminating delays caused by road traffic. It also opened a diagnostic lab in the town of Dehradun and three pharmacies that double as diagnostic centres.
“Dehradun was a clear choice for our Northern expansion thanks to its convenient location, rapidly growing economy, and well-developed infrastructure. We plan to expand our operations to other untapped areas of the state from here, including Haridwar, Mussoorie, and Rishikesh. “Tata 1mg COO Tanmay Saksena made the following comment in a press release.
He promised that the number of Tata 1mg stores in Doon and the rest of Uttarakhand would increase dramatically soon.
According to Tata 1mg, the drones will be utilised to gather medical samples from different locations across the city and deliver them to the lab for processing. Medicines will be supplied to far-flung regions using them as well. A single drone can transport one hundred and fifty samples.
“We hope to use drone technology in Dehradun to speed up the reporting process by reducing time spent transporting samples. We hope that by launching this programme, we can alter the diagnostics landscape in the state by bringing the highest quality services from Tata 1mg to a hitherto unserved market, “said Saksena. The corporation flew diagnostic samples around the city in collaboration with TSAW drones, a top drone logistics service provider.
