According to me, this phone will be suitable for any general type of user these days. This phone would be a great choice for casual gamers, want the phone to last long, want a big and good display for gaming and binge-watching and a great camera phone for capturing some memorable moments of life. Unfortunately, Xiaomi is a bit infamous for its software bugs and ads. Perhaps, it is one of the greatest downsides of phones from this company.

Samsung Galaxy M12

₹11,499 ₹12,999
Blue,4GB RAM, 64GB Storage) 6000 mAh with 8nm Processor | True 48 MP Quad Camera | 90Hz Refresh Rate

This was amongst the first M series without Samsung’s Exynos 9611, so this deserves a shout out. It instead comes with Samsung’s old flagship chipset Exynos 850 (8 nm architecture).

Perhaps, the greatest strength of Samsung is the pace of software updates and is one of the fastest in the world, only behind Google itself.

Performance: It comes with Samsung’s chipset, which is Exynos 850. It is a very capable processor built to save power. So, it would be a great phone for users who prefer a long-lasting phone with moderate use.

Micromax IN Note 1

₹9,999 ₹15,499
4 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM | Expandable up to 256 GB

Finally, an Indian brand made it to the list of top smartphones. Current Micromax is known for the clean and debloated Android experience it offers. This new brand is also known for its good after-sales service. The In note 1 is a phone which also tries to offer an all-around experience to its user.

Performance: It is powered by the same processor as Realme 50A, MediaTek Helio G85. This, coupled with a very optimized clean OS, can easily handle all heavy games. In addition, Micromax doesn’t alter its software, and hence, it is far lighter than most of the custom UI based phones we see these days. A lighter UI means the OS takes up far less RAM giving more space for our apps to run.

Camera: The camera here has a decent performing setup. It has a 48 MP quad camera setup. Coupled with Micromax’s good

  • 48 MP Main camera (f 1.8)
  • 5 MP Ultra wide (115° field of view)
  • 2 MP Depth and Macro lenses
  • 16 MP Front camera.

Battery: The IN note 1 comes with a big 5000 mAh battery with an 18W fast charger in the box. The phone might need to be charged once a day. Battery optimizations are done good when it comes to software in this phone.

Display: It comes with a 6.67 inch LCD with 450 nits brightness. It is decent enough considering the price the price it comes at. Also, screen resolution is great here, FHD+, which most phones in this price segment lack.

Overall, this phone is for those who want an overall balanced, stock android phone on a budget. One more feature which could be of interest to some users is the Google assistant button it offers. I haven’t seen many companies accept Nokia and Google itself adding this very useful hardware. It could very quickly invoke Google assistant with a click of a button to handle tasks hands-free. It is both a private and fast way to interact with Google services.

6. Realme 8i

Realme 8i

₹13,890 ₹15,999
4 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM | Expandable Upto 256 GB 16.76 cm (6.6 inch) Full HD+ Display

This phone is selected for its specifications and its overall form factor. The body is a glossy plastic back that looks like glass. It is also one of the lightest phones on this list, weighing a little over 190 grams.

Performance: This phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 processor built for gaming and performance. Coupled with Realme UI 2, this phone gets lots of features that gamers would love; for instance, the all-new Game Space has a game assistant which lets you have an immersive experience.

Camera: Rear camera comes with a 50 MP triple camera setup. It also has a great image processing quality.

  • 50 MP Main camera (f 1.8)
  • 2 MP Depth and Macro lenses
  • 16 MP Front camera

Display: Perhaps, the greatest strength for this device has to be its display. It has a 6.6 inch LCD with 600 nits peak brightness. And with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels (FHD+), this becomes a display that can appeal to everyone, even in outdoor conditions.

This phone is designed for youngsters who like binge-watching, gaming and cameras. It has an attractive display and back panel, contributing to a great overall form factor.

7. Moto G40 Fusion

Moto G40 Fusion

₹14,499 ₹16,999
4 GB RAM | 64 GB ROM 17.22 cm (6.78 inch) Full HD+ Display

It’s yet another strong contender in this list that gives a stock android experience. While Motorola is very well known for its great specification and better software experience, it is infamous for its bulky and bit hefty phones. If the phone’s body is not a matter of concern for you, this is the phone you might be looking for.

Performance: Performance-wise, this phone is a beast at this price point. Snapdragon 732G powers it. This chipset is optimized for prolonged gaming without impacting battery and overheating problems. This becomes the best chipset in this price range.

Camera: Cameras here are also best in the price range in terms of hardware. It comes with a 64 MP triple camera setup. The camera here is more than capable, but the software aspect needs to bit tweaked better. I would hence recommend the use of GCam mod for this phone.

  • 64 MP Main camera (f 1.7)
  • 8 MP Ultrawide lens (118˚ field of view)
  • 2 MP Depth
  • 16 MP Front camera

Battery: Moto g40 fusion is powered by a massive 6000 mAh battery with a 20W fast charger (Qualcomm quick charge 4 support). Keeping its stock android in mind, this phone can easily last for more than a day usage, sometimes one and a half-day.

Display: It is equipped with a large 6.8 inch, 120 Hz LCD. It is an FHD+ screen that supports HDR 10 content. Peak brightness goes up to 450 nits. Colour reproduction in this phone is good enough for an immersive movie experience.

Overall, This phone seems to be very power-packed. The only downside to this phone is its bulky built quality. But weight distribution for this phone is quite balanced so that it won’t be a big problem.
